Digestive Health plays a big part in your entire body, overall health and well being.  For example, do you ever wonder why your gut sometimes cramps, gurgles and seems to start doing a trapeze act inside your body during stressful times?  Do you find yourself needing to run to the bathroom at very inopporutune times?  Well, the answer is quite simple, yet also amazing when you take a minute to think about it.

Your digestive system is full of nerve endings, which are connected to your brain.  So, when you’re under stress, and thinking about worse-case scenarios, it’s not just all in your head.  It literally affects your entire body, and plays a big part in how your gut feels.  So, managing stress can help alleviate some of the pains that are wreaking havoc on your intestines.

Some of the most common things that affect digestive health are:

1. Indigestion (dyspepsia) – Is a burning feeling or over full feeling felt escpecially after eating a meal and is commonly confused with heartburn, which is different, but a person can have both simultaneously.

2. Heartburn (Acid reflux, GERD) – Occurs when stomach acid backs up or “refluxes” into your esophagus, which causes a burning feeling in your chest and sometimes a sour taste in your mouth.

3. Flatulence (intestinal gas) – Occurs normally in people 10 to 14 times per day.  Excess gas can be caused by what you eat and imbalances in your intestinal flora.
